Come As You Really Are is an exhibition by Hetain Patel and unites thousands of objects created, modified and collected by hobbyists across the UK.
At the heart of this project is a nationwide community of people whose labours of love are a lens through which the artist is creating an alternative portrait of the UK.

Curated by Hetain Patel, the exhibition celebrates the creative magic of hobbyists and makers from all over the UK, from Spiderman suits stitched at kitchen tables to transforming cars turned art. It’s a joyful and powerful reflection on how we spend our time, what we make, and why we make it. My partner and I travelled up for the opening, and it was so special to see my work alongside hundreds of incredible submissions. Honestly, it felt like a giant, tender love letter to creativity in all its forms.
