Cyanotype Workshop for Pole Studios

Images from Slink Studio, Lisbon

Invite your students to step off the pole and into the sun for a creative session to create prints of shoes, lace, fishnets or the body. This special cyanotype workshop is designed just for pole studios, where art-making meets movement culture.

🩵 What’s a cyanotype?
Cyanotype is an alternative photographic printing process that uses UV light (aka the sun!) to develop striking deep-blue prints. Using special paper and objects that create shadows, we’ll capture bold, sensual shapes that reflect our personalities, passions, and pole style.

👠 What to expect:
I’ll come to your studio and set up a cyanotype station, all we need is an inside shaded area to prep and an outdoor sunny spot or somewhere with good natural light. The 90-minute session begins with a short intro to the process and a couple of small practice prints (postcard size) to get everyone comfortable. Then we move onto the main event — a larger print (A4 or A3) where students can make their own pole-inspired poster.

Students are encouraged to bring their most iconic pole items to print with, think:
• Lacy underwear
• Fishnets or harnesses
• Pleaser shoes
• Gloves, garters, corsets, pole grip bottles, or accessories
• A handwritten mantra or pole name on acetate

🌞 Where this works best:
This workshop is perfect as part of a studio celebration, open day, student social or special weekend intensive. I recently ran a session for Slink Studio in Lisbon as part of their soft launch — students created artwork that reflected their own style and story, and many took their prints home to hang proudly on the wall.

🖼️ Everyone leaves with:

  • 2–3 beautiful cyanotype prints

  • A new appreciation for this creative skill

  • A connection to their studio and fellow dancers in a totally new way

💃 Why me?
I’ve been pole dancing since 2021 and know first-hand how powerful and transformative the practice can be. This workshop is rooted in that same spirit, of embodiment, creative play, confidence and community. Whether wholesome, cheeky or somewhere in between, there’s space for it all in the blue.
