This nature-connected cyanotype workshop blends science, art, and ecological awareness. Participants will create their own botanical prints using a Victorian photographic method that uses sunlight and water to make prints of plants in blue-and-white.

Rooted in the teachings of Robin Wall Kimmerer, the session encourages people to slow down, learn the names of the plants we share the world with, and honour the green beings who gift us every breath we take. Kimmerer reminds us that while most children can name hundreds of corporate logos, few can name more than a handful of plants. This workshop responds to that imbalance by inviting people to observe, honour, and make art with the plants growing in the Royal Parks.

Workshop Structure:

  • Introduction to cyanotype as a slow, sunlight-based printing method
  • Storytelling and reflection: the invisible gifts of plants and recognising them matters
  • Demonstration of the cyanotype process
  • Hands-on printing with Royal Parks plants and my own pressed plants (3 prints per participant)
  • Group reflection and appreciation of everyone’s work
